Panthers, Bears Finalizing Harris Trade
The Panthers and Bears are finalizing a trade that will send safety Chris Harris to Chicago and linebacker Lamar Williams to Carolina, sources told ESPN's John Clayton.
Harris began his career with the Bears and fills a need for the team on defense.
Williams is a restricted free agent that has been stuck behind Lance Briggs on the depth chart.
Seahawks Making Julius Jones Available
Having acquired a pair of running backs over the weekend, the Seahawks are open to dealing Julius Jones.
Seattle landed LenDale White from Tennessee and Leon Washington from New York in trades.
The Seattle made Jones available during the draft, but didn't find any takers.
Bucs Unsuccessful In Attempts To Deal Clayton
The Buccaneers are unsuccessfully trying to trade wide receiver Michael Clayton.
No teams have expressed interest in the former first-round pick.
Clayton became expendable over the weekend when Tampa Bay selected Arrelious Benn and Mike Williams in the draft.
A year ago, Clayton signed a five-year contract worth $26-million that included $10-million guaranteed.
Allen Insists Haynesworth Trade Was Never Discussed
Redskins general manager Bruce Allen insists that the team never shopped defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.
Allen added that Washington didn't discuss dealing linebacker Rocky McIntosh either.
"Believe me, Albert's agent has known from the first week the league year started what our thoughts were," Allen said. "We know where Albert stands and he knows where we stand. We look forward to having him have a productive season."
No Truth To Merriman Trade Rumors
There is no truth to rumors that the Chargers might trade linebacker Shawne Merriman, according to a report.
"No truth to them. Just another bad rumor. @jbage12 Any more steam to Merriman to Saints rumors?," Jeff Duncan of the Times-Picayune wrote on his Twitter page.
Jets Trade Leon Washington To Seahawks
The Seahawks bolstered their running game by acquiring Leon Washington from the Jets on Saturday.
Seattle also landed LenDale White in a deal with Tennessee.
Washington, who is recovering from a broken right leg, was acquired along with a seventh-round pick for a fifth-round selection.
He recently re-signed with the Jets.
Umenyiora Thinks He's Done In New York
Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora believes he'll be traded after the team drafted defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul on Thursday night.
A source close to the disgruntled defensive end told the New York Daily News of Umenyiora's feeling.
Giants owner John Mara and general manager Jerry Reese insist that New York isn't looking to deal the defensive end.
Bills Still Want To Keep Lynch
The Bills drafted running back C.J. Spiller on Thursday night, but claim they are still committed to Marshawn Lynch.
Rumors soared once Buffalo took Spiller, but general manager Buddy Nix held his ground.
